ABOUT PRO PLUS ASSOCIATES
Pro Plus Associates was formed originally in 1992, as a partnership by three individual agents who felt that if they pooled their knowledge, experience and expertise in the areas of Life, Health, Medicare supplemental and long term care insurance, and investment products, they could better serve their clients.
The main reason the partnership was formed by three individual insurance agents, rather than continuing to work for large insurance companies or for a local agency, was the desire by the three to be independent of pressure by the companies or the agency to sell products that may or may not be in the client's best interest.
In the real world, an insurance
agent that is employed by a large insurance company or insurance agency does
not have the flexibility or freedom to choose the product he or she offers
to the client. Those choices are dictated either by the limits of what an
individual company has to offer, or by the agreement between an agency and
an insurance company. In some cases, insurance companies will provide computer
equipment or other incentives to an insurance agency in exchange for that
agency promoting their product over some other company's product.
Since the desire of the three
partners were to always offer to their clients what they felt was best suited
for the client's unique need, the only way to do so was to become independent,
and have the availability of as many companies as possible. No production
commitment will ever be agreed to by Pro Plus Associates in order to do business
with any company, because that would destroy the independence that Pro Plus
Associates enjoys.
The original partnership lasted until the first of the year 2000, when the partners decided that the direction they each wanted to go was not best served by the partnership. In April of 2000, the partnership was dissolved, with Rich Gilstrap becoming the sole proprietor, retaining the business name and client base.
Rich continues to service the existing clients of Pro Plus Associates, while working with new and existing clients in retirement planning, as well as continuing to produce health and life insurance business. He has agreements with other agents throughout California, who send some of their production through Pro Plus Associates. Rich continues to retain his independence, maintains his continuing education requirements for insurance products including long-term care coverage, and provides his clients with the best service he can. Rich has always believed that his client's satisfaction is what is deserved and expected when they place their insurance needs with him.
